My handwoven hearts are individual in size and shape, I sell them in dormant form unrooted in the spring and these can be posted at that stage. Once they are on leaf which is usually May onwards so I only sell these locally as they are to fragile to post ( see below for more details)
Growing plants – the leaves will sprout around the heart as small stems appear they will naturally grow upwards and fan out, you have the choice to leave them to fan out, or you can weave the thin of shoots them across the inside of the heart to create a woven internal shape.
The leaves drop in the winter whilst it is in its dormant stage
I provide two different plant options
Flanders red is quite a study willow which is green with an attractive red blush on young growth developing into a reddish/rust color bark in the winter months and as it ages, they may develop green catkins. It is the taller option. OUT OF STOCK
Size approximately 100 -110 cm height
Brittany green is a finer willow which is red/ green and green/ brown color rods sometimes with red/ yellow buds and may develop greyish catkins.
Size approximately- 90 -100cm height
If you prefer a different size please contact me to discuss
The stems will gradually fuse together where they touch over a period of years.
Growing in pots -The soil needs to be kept moist throughout the year if you decide to keep it in a pot it is best to use a deep base which will hold plenty of water, I have used small stones to keep the plant mulched and to make it more stable as it roots once this happened you can transport the plant into a larger pot,
If you prefer you can plant it directly into the ground. ( please be gentle with the roots if it is past the dormant stage) the toots need to be regularly watered especially in the first few months until the roots are established and then in dry periods .
It is designed to be kept trimmed and stay a similar size it you do decide to plant it in the ground do not plant it near to walls or water pipes.
What to expect
Each plant is provided with aftercare instructions including how to maintain its shape once it is established.
