About Us

The Original Online And Physical Makers Market

South Central Makers is a one stop shop platform for local Artists and Crafters to sell their makes and the perfect place to find all your gifts locally. All the lovely local handmade gift shops rolled into one marketplace.

With a focus on ‘shop local’ South Central Makers supports local makers for local shoppers.

“Shopping Local Has Never Been So Creative”

SCM is a platform; all sales are securely processed here, but all of the money goes to the vendors. When you purchase here you are dealing with the vendor.

South Central Makers is a growing community and we look forward to welcoming you aboard. Why not visit our social pages for updates and chat.

Kate - Founding Partner & Admin/Marketing Manager

Mum of three and two annoying cats Bilbo and Shilo AND Grandma (Ama) to Zac, Theo and Sadie... She looks younger than she is... 😉
Before Kate started South Central Makers, she had a career as a senior manager working with a company who supported DSA students and corporate clients with disabilities within the workplace, providing them with specialist support, hardware and software. Kate has always been a natural team leader and people manager with a good eye for business.
"I've always been creative, I've come from a creative family on both sides, so it is only natural that I love all the arts, I would always rather paint, draw, read or play the violin, anything I could think of as a child rather than go out and take exercise ;)".
Having already been running her own greetings card and jewellery making business for 18 months, Kate started a Facebook group in March 2019 because she wanted to create a makers community in her home town, from there she met Kerri and they quickly formed a bond. South Central Makers was born shortly after.
Kate's role in the business is everything admin, designer, social media guru and accounts and invoicing. You will see her mainly in front of the computer screen... and joining Kerri at the markets along with running some herself on occasion.

Kerri - Co-Founder & Market Manager

Kerri is a mum of four boys, yep she is taxi driver, chef, cleaner, problem solver, driving instructor, bank teller and cheerleader to her boys. She also has two fur children, Monty and Pablo, two sprockerpoos who love nothing more than wallowing in muddy puddles and stealing biscuits.
Before meeting Kate, Kerri had previously run a children’s entertainment business with her husband and spent many years working as a teaching assistant to students aged 4 to 16 years, specialising in Asd support. She is a Patient, positive and energetic person who loves nothing more than using her creativity and having a go at literally anything crafty in her ‘Hobbycraft’ replica office. It's not a surprise to anyone that Kerri is creative and entrepreneurial she gets that from all four of her grandparents and is inspired by her aunt who completed a fine art degree aged 65 and is, like Kerri a dab hand at anything creative.
Kerri’s role within the business is Market manager, she organises the bookings and running of all the markets, you will find Kerri putting up road signs and at the markets first thing in the morning setting up gazebos and organising tables or chatting with anyone and everyone. Kerri almost didn't meet Kate on that very first gathering that was to begin the journey of South Central Makers, but changed her mind at the very last minute .... We are glad she did!
