These handwoven harlequin trees are created from dormant unrooted living willow grown in Somerset.
Each plant is individual and will vary slightly in size and shape, once the plant starts growing it will develop a crown of leaves. and shoots extending above the stems which you will be able to shape/ trim to size.
I provide two different options
Flanders red is quite a study willow with green with an attractive red blush on young growth developing into a reddish/rust color in the winter months and as it ages, they may develop green catkins. It is the taller option
Brittany green is a finer willow with red/ green and green/ brown color rods sometimes with red/ yellow buds, they may develop greyish catkins.
I provide two options
Funnel shape -smaller at the bottom larger at the top.
- Large- created with single or double stems Flanders Red, 160cm height 25cm base 35cm top
- Small – created with Brittany Green, double stem 125 height 10cm base, top 25cm
- Large – created with Flanders red Height 160 cm x 25 width
- Mediun Brittany green Height 125cm x 10cm wide
The size is approximate and measured from the top of the pot to the top of the plant
I am happy to produce trees with more stems that are wider or a different shape please contact me to discuss and for a quote.
The plant’s stems will gradually fuse and eventually become one where they touch, over the next few years ( you will need to keep the stretchy ties in place until this happens)
The soil needs to be kept moist especially for the first month or two, you will need to keep it in the pot for the first couple of months until the roots are established, then you can transport the plant into a larger pot, or if you prefer you can plant it directly into the ground.
Each plant is provided with aftercare instructions including how to maintain its shape once it is established. if you do decide to plant it directly in the ground do not plant it next to buildings, stone structures/ walls as the roots can cause damage.
